Hey Friends!
Sorry for the silence for the past...well...numbers aren't important. I'm back! I am excited to share some adventures, experiences, and local favorites with you! First up, our AWESOME stay at the insanely beautiful Thompson Nashville. Swooooooon ALERT. We have stayed at several Thompson Hotels and they are my favorite, mainly because they don't feel like a chain. The design is so so gorgeous + I just cannot get enough. (this was one of our other favorites for a NYC staycation we had) We headed south for Christmas to spend the holidays with my family in Georgia + decided to spend New Years in Nashville to break up the trip + because Nashville is a special city in both of our hearts. Mike + I have both spent a lot of time there seprately + together. It fills my southern needs, makes my heart flutter like a mini NYC at the same time, and gives us 5 star food and tunes. There is a major design community there from interiors, to clothing, to flowers. Nashville is bursting at the seams with talent, y'all.
We don't typically do gifts. Instead we plan a trip and that is our gift to each other..memories. Mike knew how much I loved the mid-century modern design elements and upon checking-in I was surprised with a suite!! That boy is a keeper. I am talking clawfoot bathtub status. In three days I took six baths. Not kidding. Not only were we greeted at the entrance with magnolia leaves, but when they realized our room wasn't quite ready, they set us up in the bar with free cocktails! Win. The Thompson Nashville is located in The Gulch and conveniently placed between Broadway bars and 12 South. It is also right around the corner from The Station Inn, which is one of our favorite Nashville spots for tunes.
Don't want to leave the gorgeousness? They have you covered. We stayed in + ordered dinner from their on-site restaurant, Marsh House. Go for the squash blossoms + korean chicken. We also hit the roof top bar, L.A. Jackson, every night and even ran into Robert Randolph. He is such a sweetie! Great views of the city, cool vibes, fun times. Get the mexican coffee (crushed ice, tequila, coffee). HEAR ME OUT. It is delicious. That is all. When we weren't running around the hotel eating, drinking, or bathing - we were at their THIRD on-site spot - Killebrew getting non-alcoholic coffee to start the day. Don't even get me started on the lobby. Design highlights include the lobby’s large-scale wooden compass rose designed by Patrick Hayes, custom-designed light fixtures and furnishings, and works by local up-and-coming artists. The hotel’s guest suites feature wooden floors overlaid with custom rugs, wet bars and individual hearths, as well as bathrooms featuring claw-foot bathtubs accented with graphic tile patterns. Every room also has a Marshall speaker to hook up to your devices with some local vinyl (shout out Margo Price!). As music lovers, this was a huge plus to us.
I always try to hit a flower shop when we are traveling. I like meeting other designers, hearing their stories, and building a community. Plus, it makes your hotel room or Air B + B feel like home! This trip I went into Buds + Bunches ( now OSHI) scored some blooms to brighten up our room. Ask florists if they have any leftovers and use those in a water glass in your room.
We had the most wonderful stay at The ThompsonNashville and they even regrammed one of my pics on their main Thompson Hotels insta here. We are headed back next week + can't wait!
